Students will learn how to groom and tack up the horse before riding. Most students end up riding for approximately 30 minutes. Learning how to groom and tack are important skills for working with horses, as well as learning responsibility. Occasionally lessons will be ground work if it is not a suitable day for riding.

(recommended for 5 & up) Learn important skills working with horses on the ground. Work on practical horse handling skills or use the horse as a way to increase confidence and empowerment. 

Semi Private lessons

Available at Samantha’s discretion. Maximum 3 riders. Best for riders who already have experience with riding.

Samantha offers lessons on her lesson horses as well as individuals who have their own horses. Samantha is a vendor for Inspire Charter Schools.

*Monthly Pricing Policy: Prepay for the month at $65 per lesson. Any cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to qualify for a make up. Limit of one make up per month. Cancellations less than 24 hours in advance will use 1 lesson. Any cancellation Joy For Horses makes will not count against the prepaid lessons. Make up lessons may be offered if there is availability, but they are not guaranteed. Payment is due on or before the 1st lesson of the month.

"When Katelyn first began working with Samantha, sessions would be interrupted by meltdowns and redirections. Working through the program Katelyn has learned patience and self regulation to avoid a meltdown allowing her to enjoy and participate in her sessions. The program has helped build self confidence through learning how to care for the horses and leading them through obstacle courses.  She has learned to trust the horses and that the horses trust her. To see Katelyn’s development from session to session has been unbelievable. To see her complete a session meltdown free and being able to self regulate her responses when overstimulated is something I wasn’t sure I would ever see. Samantha also incorporates things such as language skills, requiring Katelyn to use a complete sentence when asking for something and asking for help when feeling frustrated.
